Available from July 2012 is the photo enthusiast's Sony DSC-RX100 20.2 MP Exmor CMOS Sensor Digital Camera with 3.6x Zoom , the first Sony compact digital camera that can shoot RAW files.
Fitted with a large-diameter F1.8 - 4.9 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens giving a 28-100mm focal length equivalent, the RX100 can shoot 1080p60 and capture 17MP (16:9 crop) stills simultaneously. The RX100 is also the first to sport Sony's propriety 'WhiteMagic' LCD technology that is geared for a brighter lower-power display. With image stabilization, images are captured at a 3:2 aspect ratio, the same proportion as most DSLRs.
Ideal for travel, portraits or street photography, the RX100 is complemented with all the bells and whistlers of an advanced digital point-and-shoot, including the capability of recognizing 33 different scenes for photos and 44 scenes for movies, and in difficult lighting (low light or back light) situation, it will capture a second image at a different optimized setting for you to choose from.
